Prototyping

Once we decided on the concept we wanted to prototype, the process became a lot more straight forward. We decided on a concept for an apartment complex that allows young professionals to live in an ideal area for work, but is affordable do to because its dorm style community living. However, we will also allow these people to have the opportunity to stay with the community as they grow older, offering another level of apartment style living, and then another for penthouse living. In this way, people in the penthouse living will meet the needs of societal pressures to have their own space, while also maintaining that sense of community. This top level, which we labeled the Executive Level, will have many amenities similar to that of a house and will be the most experimental of the levels. As this would not appeal to everyone, we decided we would have less rooms as the level increased, which would give each level more space anyway. We decided to prototype in three ways: a website, a flyer, and a digital model. With these three in prototypes, we are very much specifying how this complex would look and function.
